Updated BeatBox & KickFlip Models from ECX
Proving that size is no factor in the amount of fun you can have with an R/C vehicle, ECX has updated their BeatBox and KickFlip 1/36-scale vehicles with new graphics, and in one case, a new body type. Keeping with it's micro-Monster Truck body style, the BeatBox has received a new coat of paint for 2015. Instead of the black and red color combination that graced this machine when it launched late last year, the new look of red and blue is splashed over this tiny truck. Under the body, the chassis remains the same, although you'll notice black wheels on the updated version, rather than white.
The biggest body change comes from the KickFlip, which moves from a micro-buggy to a micro-desert truck. As with the BeatBox, the chassis and internals remain the same, but some of the images of this updated vehicle show what appear to be rubber tires, rather than the foam "shoes" that came with the original KickFlip. Whether these were prototype pictures or not remains to be seen. There is a product listing on Horizon Hobby's website, described as "1/36 Front/Rear Tire Premounted", which may provide the rubber compound option.
As with the previous-year's models, these two vehicles are ready-to-run (RTR) and come with 2.4GHz radios, quick-charge capability, and four "AAA" batteries. Both vehicles are priced at $34.99 and are available for pre-order at Horizon Hobby.
